On June 27th Jodie and I got married! Technically it is the second time we got married and it legally wont ever count for anything, but for me, it really felt like the first time we got married. I was able to be the one who got to plan the entire shin dig. I mean yes, like any good bride I asked Jodie what she wanted and I sought out her input frequently. But seriously, at the end of the day this was my production and I loved it!
I began planning last summer while I was healing from my surgery and the first person I hired was my photographer, Angela Nelson. I was so super nervous to hire someone to take photos of us. I know that so many of you who visit my blog are very complimentary to me, but I take a huge amount of photos to get just a few that I actually like. So it was very nerve wracking to agree to pay someone to take photos of me and kind of hope that I’d like my overall look, but dang, the photos are amazing!! I am in love with so many of them I couldn’t possibly share all of them. But um yeah, I love the photos!
And I loved the entire experience! I loved my entire wedding day even though it wasn’t exactly how I had hoped things went. But that is how weddings go right? Nothing ever can go exactly as planned. It went beautifully, but it wasn’t what we had planned. The morning and day was lovely and was spent getting our hair and makeup done for myself, Jodie, my sister, and our nieces who were our maids of honor. That took five hours to complete and I was so happy with the results.
It was initially so stressful to me. Again, like the photography, I was terrified of relying on someone else to do things like my hair and makeup! Ugh! I had never paid someone to do those things for me and I was relying on them to do so much! But they came through in spades and my happiness was palpable to all around me.
Our photographer took us away for some stunning shots before whisking us off to our wedding. We got married in a mango grove, that was about to be destroyed and almost had been prematurely plowed under. Our officiant was not who we planned as their was a fire in Lahaina (not the one that recently destroyed everything) and he was unable to attend due to road closures. And despite everything, our wedding was beautiful and amazing and fantastic and everything I could have hoped it would be!
Now it truly feels as though I am married and I am still in bliss over everything.
