I think it probably is about five years ago that my friend Dana came to me and asked me if I would be interested in creating a podcast with her. She had this crazy idea about doing a podcast focusing on transgender issues from people who live in the central valley of California. Of course I jumped at the opportunity. Initially the podcast was run under a nearby LGBTQ+ organization but it quickly became apparent that we needed to privatize our show. Dana and I were not always the most politically correct podcasters out there and our shows needed to have a warning placed on them about our excessive use of naughty words. We made one season but then life happened, COVID came along, and so many other things rained down upon either myself or onto Dana.
The show languished in internet-blackhole obscurity. And then it became apparent that I had lost my co-host. Not to anything as serious as that makes it sound, it was just that Dana needed to move on to other projects. Me being me, I decided to hold onto the dream of a podcast that I had adopted from Dana. I didn’t do much with the podcast, but I kept it alive though, even if just barely. I obtained the rights to the name of the show, and the internet address of transcister.com, and I set out to find a cohost. Sadly that was during the time of COVID intensity and it became increasingly difficult to find other human beings who were interested in sitting in small confined quarters with other humans.
To me the obvious choice was always to have my wife, Jodie, be my co-host. But again, that whole thing called life that so many of us struggle with, too many things to do and not enough time. However one of my super powers is persistence, and I can for sure be a very persistent human. After suggesting it to my wife one more time, she considered it seriously, and then she said yes! I was ecstatic and we slowly set about making episodes. It took us way longer than we thought it would. Lots of starts and stops, but eventually we got some shows together. We made a lofty goal of having a dozen episodes for our first season together. Alas, we didn’t get anywhere near that.
As well our season got mightily interrupted by the previously mentioned near death experience my wife recently went through. We had gotten six episodes together and were planning on making more, but getting over her experience has been very difficult for Jodie and at some point I realized we need to start distributing our episodes because many of them are quickly becoming vastly outdated. But oh well! That is the nature of things and life goes on.
So I am planning on releasing one episode a week, on Mondays, for the next four weeks. The first two episodes of season 2 are already live.
Oh and I also developed our new logo. Do you like it? I do! Here, I’ll show you a comparison of the old logo to our new one. I think we can all agree that the new one is much better.
Alrighty then people. Have fun! Love you and all of that jazz!!!
