Do you know what gatekeeping is? Here is an acceptable definition: the activity of controlling, and usually limiting, general access to something. How exactly does that apply to trans folk? Normally it is interpreted as – you cannot do this thing, take hormones or have surgeries, until you have met the following predefined characteristics.
